Reviewed June 2026. We re-checked every recovery path on this page — the Account Quality dashboard, the Business Support Home disabled-asset forms, Meta Account Center linking, and the business-verification document list — against Meta's current Business Help Center, and confirmed the surfaces, timelines, and figures are accurate as of June 2026.
What Facebook business account recovery actually means
Facebook business account recovery is the process of restoring access to a Meta business asset — a Business Portfolio (the container Meta renamed from "Business Manager" in 2024), a Facebook Page, an ad account, or a Commerce/Shops account — after it has been disabled, restricted, hijacked, or orphaned when its only admin left. It is not one task. It is four. Meta treats each asset as a separate object with its own enforcement state, its own appeal surface, and its own evidence requirements, so the path that reinstates a paused ad account does nothing for a fully disabled Business Portfolio.
The single most expensive mistake we see at intake is treating "I lost my Facebook business account" as one problem. A paused ad account, an unpublished Page, a disabled Business Portfolio, and a Commerce policy ban look identical from the outside — you cannot get in — but they route to four different Meta review queues. Ava Chen, who triaged business-asset enforcement inside Meta's Trust & Safety organization for four years before founding the team behind YRS, estimates that roughly a third of owners appeal the wrong object first and burn the single review Meta grants per action. If it is your personal profile that is locked rather than a business asset, start instead with our step-by-step Facebook account unban guide — the surfaces and forms are different.
Why did you lose access to your Facebook business account?
Five causes account for nearly every business-recovery case our team opens (n=189 Facebook business cases since January 2025). Diagnosing which one you are in determines everything that follows:
- Compromised admin (hijack). An attacker phished a person with admin rights, added themselves as a new admin, and removed everyone else. The Page and portfolio still exist and run — you are simply locked out of your own assets. This is the highest-recovery-rate category.
- Orphaned assets — the sole admin left. An employee, freelancer, or agency that held the only admin role departed, was terminated, or stopped responding. The asset is healthy; the access chain is broken.
- Page unpublished or Business Portfolio disabled. Meta took enforcement action under its Community Standards, Advertising Standards, or Business Terms. You see a restriction notice rather than a login screen.
- Ad account restriction. The most common single trigger — usually a flagged payment method, a policy strike on a running ad, or a sudden spend pattern that looked like a stolen card. The portfolio is fine; one ad account inside it is frozen.
- Commerce or Shops ban. A catalog or Shop violated Commerce Policies (prohibited products, mismatched listings, repeated buyer complaints). If the restriction is specifically on selling, our Facebook Marketplace ban recovery guide covers the parallel commerce-enforcement side.
Get the diagnosis right before you touch any form. Meta logs your appeal against the specific object and the specific enforcement action; a misrouted submission is recorded as "review complete," and the follow-up often auto-routes to the same denial.
Recover Facebook business account access by asset type
There is no universal "undo" button. Recover Facebook business account access by matching the path to the asset that is actually locked. Here are the four official routes as they stand in June 2026.
Page admin-access loss
If you have lost admin rights to a Page but can still log in to your personal Facebook, open Business Settings inside Meta Business Suite, then check People and Partners to see who currently holds access. Where a hijacker added themselves, removing them requires regaining a higher role than theirs — which is why a backup admin with full control is the cheapest insurance you can carry. If your Page and Instagram are connected through Meta Account Center, a still-healthy Instagram login can sometimes re-establish control of the linked Page; the cascade mechanics are the same ones in our professional Instagram unban guide. If the dispute is over the Page's name or vanity handle rather than access, see claiming or changing your Page username.
Ad account restriction
A restricted ad account is appealed, not "recovered." Open Meta's Account Quality dashboard, select the restricted ad account, and request a review. You will usually be asked to confirm your identity and, increasingly, to complete business verification. Most clean ad-account reviews return a decision in 24–72 hours; do not file a second appeal while the first is pending, as duplicate requests reset the queue position.
Full Business Portfolio disable
A disabled Business Portfolio is the hardest tier. Every asset inside it — Pages, ad accounts, catalogs, pixels — goes dark together. Recovery runs through Business Support Home, requires full business verification (legal entity name, registered address, business phone, and often a domain you control), and is the most case-dependent outcome of the four. Across our records, first-attempt reinstatement on portfolios disabled by automated systems runs about 31%; portfolios disabled after a human policy review run far lower.
Commerce account or Shops ban
Commerce restrictions route through Commerce Manager and are judged against Meta's Commerce Policies, not its general Community Standards. Some categories — recalled goods, prohibited products, repeated counterfeit complaints — are not reinstatable at all, and no service can change that.
How to recover Facebook business account access as a removed admin
This is the scenario almost no published guide addresses: a former agency, contractor, or co-founder holds the only admin role and will not hand it back. How to recover Facebook business account access here is a dual track. First, if the business legally owns the Page (it carries your trademark or registered business name), Meta's Intellectual Property and Business Support channels can adjudicate ownership when you supply incorporation documents and trademark records. Second, a formal written demand to the departed party often resolves it faster than any platform process. The appeal-evidence framework is the same one we walk through in the Meta appeal flow step by step — lead with documents, not grievance.
Not sure which asset is actually locked? Send us the restriction notice and a short description of what you can and cannot access, and our team will tell you which of the four recovery paths applies — and whether it is realistically appealable — before you spend anything. Book a free 60-minute case review. No passwords, no payment to start.
How to contact Meta for business account recovery (and what to prepare)
There is no phone number for Facebook business account recovery. Not in the US, not in the EU, not in the UK. Every "Meta Business support number" in a Google Ad or a DM is a scam. The legitimate channels as of June 2026 are the Account Quality dashboard for restrictions and appeals, the Business Help Center and Business Support Home for disabled assets, and Meta Account Center for linked-profile recovery. Paid advertisers and Meta Verified for Business subscribers also get access to live chat support, which is the single fastest official escalation that exists.
What you prepare matters more than where you submit. Before you open any form, assemble: the exact restriction or disable notice (screenshot the full text and the date), the business's legal name and registered address as they appear on incorporation paperwork, a government ID for the person submitting, and — for portfolio-level cases — a domain you can verify and a business phone that can receive a code. Appeals that match the ID and entity details to the account on file clear review materially faster than appeals that do not; mismatches are the most common avoidable rejection our team sees.
Facebook new account recovery: starting over after a permanent disable
"Facebook new account recovery" gets searched two different ways, and they need different answers. The first is someone whose newly created business account was flagged within days of setup — usually because a fresh portfolio immediately added a payment method and launched ad spend, which Meta's systems read as a risk signal. That case is a normal ad-account or verification appeal: complete business verification, and the flag typically clears.
The second meaning is the hard one: the old portfolio is permanently disabled, every appeal is exhausted, and Facebook new account recovery really means rebuilding on a clean foundation. If Meta has issued a final decision, no legitimate service can reverse it — and anyone who promises otherwise is selling false hope. What you can do is stand up a new, compliant Business Portfolio without inheriting the old one's enforcement shadow: use a different admin who was never associated with the violation, complete business verification up front, warm up ad spend gradually instead of launching at scale, and never re-add the disabled assets or payment instruments. Done carefully, a clean rebuild is often faster than chasing a closed appeal.
Facebook business account recovery scams to avoid
Because business owners searching this term are bleeding revenue, the scam ecosystem around Facebook business account recovery is dense. These are the patterns we see weekly at intake:
- The fake "Meta Business support" DM. A message claiming to be from Meta, a "Business Account specialist," or a "Page verification team" asks for your password, a login code, or to install a "verification" tool. Meta never asks for codes. We never ask for codes. Report these at the FTC fraud portal.
- The instant-unban seller. A Fiverr, Telegram, or Reddit vendor promises a guaranteed reinstatement in 24 hours for a flat fee. They are either reselling Meta's free appeal or taking the money and vanishing.
- The "internal Meta contact." Anyone claiming a current employee who can force a recovery outside the appeal pipeline is lying; Trust & Safety reviewers cannot reverse decisions on request.
- The fraudulent-DMCA play. Some "services" offer to file copyright takedowns to seize a competitor's Page or restore yours. Filing a false notice is a federal crime under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), and we will not do it.
What we will never do, on any case: ask for your password, request a one-time code, file a fraudulent notice, or guarantee an outcome before reviewing your evidence. Those limits, and the categories we cannot help with, are spelled out in our recovery service disclaimer.
How to keep your Facebook business account from being lost again
Recovery without hardening just resets the clock. After our team restores access, we close every engagement the same way, and you can do most of it yourself: assign at least two admins with full control so a single departure never orphans the asset; turn on two-factor authentication for every person with access (an authenticator app or passkey, not SMS); complete Meta business verification before you need it, because a verified portfolio recovers faster; audit Business Settings → People and Partners quarterly and remove anyone who has left; and keep the business's legal documents and domain control current so an ownership appeal is winnable on day one. The accounts that get re-compromised within 90 days are almost always the ones with a single admin, SMS-only 2FA, and no business verification on file.
When professional Facebook business account recovery makes sense
Appeal it yourself first. The official paths above are free, and clean ad-account and hijack cases often resolve without help. Professional recovery earns its fee when the stakes or the complexity rise:
- Material revenue is frozen — a disabled portfolio that has paused live ad campaigns or locked Commerce orders, where each day of downtime costs more than the engagement.
- The case is genuinely wrongful — a false-positive automated disable, a hijack where the attacker's activity triggered the ban, or a mistaken-identity report — and you need the evidence organized into a reviewer-ready package.
- Access is contested — a departed agency or contractor holds the only admin role and the recovery is as much a documentation-and-ownership problem as a platform one. The same business-account logic applies when recovering a compromised professional account on other networks.
When it does not make sense: if the violation category is non-appealable — content tied to CSAM, terrorism, fraud, sanctioned entities, or repeated confirmed coordinated inauthentic behavior — Meta's decision is final, and no service can change it. We decline those cases at intake rather than take the fee.
Our team runs every Facebook case through a named specialist with verifiable Meta and security credentials; you can review the same diagnostic framework applied to other platforms across our Meta-family recovery service and the rest of the YRS recovery blog. We do not guarantee recovery. We do guarantee a sober, documented assessment of whether your case is recoverable at all — before any meaningful spend.
